The Battle Cry Against Entitlements
Preface: Our family is one of the lucky ones. We’ve been blessed with so much support in our commitment to keeping Parker alive. But for every lucky one there are THOUSANDS who are not so lucky. What I share below is to also bring awareness to their...

What’s In YOUR Garden?
We’ve done a something a little different in our gardens this year. Instead of filling our side gardens with flowers and herbs, we decided to plant way less flowers and plant different varieties of winter squash. Creating a blenderized diet for...

So, I was talking to my therapist…
I have always been a pretty self sufficient kind of girl. I could handle it on my own, thankyouverymuch. Then came Parker. For the first few years I kept up with my ‘do it all myself’ determination. Until one day I realized it was killing...

What’s YOUR Austerity Plan?
Have you ever watched this video before? I know. There’s LOTS of controversy concerning it. But let’s look past the messenger and focus on the message for a moment. Let’s face it. America is addicted to cheap stuff. We are consumers...

The Slippery Slope Called Hope
We came back from our Pulmo appointment last week feeling a bit of hope. When you are the parent of a medically fragile child, hope is often that elusive golden ring, sometimes so very close, most times beyond your wildest reach. Dr. Pulmo directs our...

Big Pool……Little Kid
Parker spent a good portion of last summer hanging out in his little blue pool. This year the pool is green. And much bigger. Parker spent most of his time hanging out on the edge of the pool with only his toes actually in the pool. Yup, this kid of mine...

And Away We Go!
We are heading up to Primary’s today. Parker has an appointment with Dr. Daftry, his Pulmo. This guy is amazing. He also has a last name that nobody knows how to properly pronounce. I’ve heard at least 20 variations of it. They told us to...

Another Nurse Bites The Dust
We don’t get night nursing every night. And it isn’t unusual for a night nurse not to show. Or to say she came by and knocked and knocked and even left a message on the phone. Except nobody heard her knock nor the phone ring and no messages...

Yard Sales, Baby.
Between Reed working on Saturdays and the weather, I haven’t been out and about too often in my pursuit of yard sale treasure. The entertainment center for Parker’s room is (finally) done. It was a lot of work. A whole lot. Reed scrounged...

Sometimes It’s Hard.
There are parents of kids out there that look at me and decide that I must be some sort of fraudulent imitation of a real special needs parent. I don’t view Parker’s life as being as devastating as I should. Yeah. They view me as being suspect...

The Great Escape….
Okay, a little behind the scenes info here: Parker has been going up and down the big fight of stairs that connects our upper and lower levels. It’s kinda fun to watch him go up and down them. He’s much more confident (and quicker!) going...

Down on Parker’s Farm….
We hung out at my parent’s house on Memorial Day. I love hanging out my parent’s house. The company, the food, the whole day….simply wonderful. My parents own almost 6 acres out in the boonies. This is the view from their back deck....
