Dragonflight will not launch in 2022

The Legion expansion prequel novel, Illidan WoTLK Gold, released in April of 2016 4 months ahead of the expansion's August 2016 release. Before the Storm Before the Storm, the Battle for Azeroth prequel novel was originally planned to launch in May before appearing in June 2018 The expansion will be released in August of 2018. The most recent release it was announced that the Shadowlands prequel novel, Shadows Rising, released in July 2020. four months before the Shadowlands expansion coming in November 2020.

Given the prequel novel release schedule and the assumption that the novel doesn't get delayed, it would seem to indicate that Blizzard is currently aiming for a release in March 2023 for Dragonflight. This is around the same time period many fans have speculated that would explain the expansion's arrival, especially due to the fact that Dragonflight is not yet accessible for testing on game's public test realm.

Further to the idea that Dragonflight will not launch in 2022 but be released in 2023. could be Blizzard recently announced that Shadowlands would receive a fourth season, one that will not feature new content, but instead will repurpose existing raids and dungeons. Season 4 will be shorter than a typical one and will likely be released later this year. Shadowlands Season 3 started in March. If the past seasons are any indication, will probably last for as long as seven months.
