I have been looking for new writers who may provide a wider perspective on the struggles of a combat veteran and significant others. I found a combat veterans wife who started writing her own blog recently at The Combat Veteran Spouse: Living in the Shadow of PTSD. I have asked her to share about her experiences as she navigates and attempts to understand her combat veteran.
An introduction from her site:
The role of the Combat Veteran spouse can be a lonely one. Often feeling isolated and challenged to the point of breaking you wonder if you are doing the right thing by your wounded warrior. Guilt, shame, and sometimes rage followed by self-loathing for feeling such negative emotions are a common occurrence. My husband served in Iraq 2004 – 2005 as a Calvary Scout. He endured such horrors in Baghdad that no man deserves to suffer, and ultimately, he ended up wounded; and for all his troubles he returned home with severe PTSD, a Traumatic Brain Injury and is now 100% disabled. This Blog will serve both as a form of therapy for me and perhaps to show other combat veteran spouses they are not alone.
