Recently, the technology, introduced from Activision Blizzard, has drawn criticism from developers and gamers. A few among the Overwatch creators have denied any connection to this technology. On May 12th, Activision Blizzard published a blog post dedicated to the use of a specific technology for making more inclusive and diverse characters.
Diversity Space Tool was developed by King, one of the three main companies at Activision Blizzard King. The Candy Crush creator has been working on it with in the MIT Game Lab since 2016.
The studio explained the idea was to encourage developers to think outside of the box and to eliminate unconscious bias and exclusion in the creation of game characters.
"As an outcome, we hope we'll see more characters that break out of the norm, as well as better reflect women, non-binaries and other minorities that are under-represented in the entertainment industry," King globalization project manager Jacqueline Chomatas said in a statement.
Although Activision Blizzard eventually edited the blog post, the original version said there was evidence that Diversity Space Tool had been test-driven through Call of Duty: Vanguard developers, in addition to the Overwatch 2 team D2R ladder items, who had the chance to "experiment with the tool with equally enthusiastic first impressions"So you can see how Diversity Space Tool works:
