Because u're f2p, you cannot shoot elvarg from a distance, the dragon RS Gold. The single-handed rng is one of the weakest crossbows in the game. I'd suggest 40 or more atk as well as 40 or more str and 33 def and more prior to attacking it. Doing this could get you killed as you can't wield an anti-drag sheild (unless you're using bronze bolts to attach a reg crossbow).

Which i really don't advise. Maging it would be terrible because i've read it has a high magical def. In the melee levels it will require the rune scimmy (40atk required) and armor with adamant (30 def needed), an amulet of str and str potion will help.. You also require the anti drag shield, as without it, the elvarg can hit upto 500 dmg.

Also, you should have an inventory of lobsters/swordfish. The swordfish is better as I was able to defeat elvarg with a fight of around 40-50, only utilizing 3-5 lobsters. This set-up is for the final boss fight against elvarg the dragon btw. A final thing to note is that the 33 magic spell can make you save 10k Gp (for Telegrabbing a map item instead of buying an item through the goblin)

Also keep in mind, you'll need 33 quest points to begin this quest.
