TBF Final Fantasy can only be WOW TBC Classic Gold sub-subscribed to. All is well if you buy the ESO sub. They're half the cost of FF expansions. Additionally, they release twice as often , so it's pretty competitive.
FFXIV also has an extremely acclaimed expansion in the form of Shadowbringers which is ranked as one of the greatest Final Fantasy stories of the past 15 years or so. This is the most awe-inspiring praise I've ever heard for an ESO story.
Just finished the base game and have been enjoying every minute, I don't feel the need for rushing to finish game because of Ilevel sync, which makes even older content challenging, the fact that there are enjoyable activities other than murdering and hoboing about is great, I have just been racing chocobo for myself, and players I've played in dungeons will not give up at the drop of a hat and help you out if you are in need of help.
Even though I'm currently playing FF, I don't see any reason why I should not play ESO. Both are very enjoyable with their own distinct ways. Final Fantasy strikes me as much more of a game for social interaction and the storyline is just as enjoyable as any main line Final Fantasy game. ESO On the other hand, allows you to immerse yourself in the world. If you are aware of your Nirn to be a bit of a geek, ESO will give you so many opportunities to be a participant in it. Combat is the major issue for many. FF feels more like WoW. ESO is much more like GW2 and the later moves in ESO are a bit sloppy in terms of length, but but from an execution standpoint.
They're both very cool and could fill a variety of niches. Personally, I'm a fan of the story of ESO. However, I've played more Elder Scrolls games that I have Final Fantasy, so I am more knowledgeable about the lore and buy TBC Classic Gold references there.
