The RuneScape community did not enjoy the RuneScape gold concept back then, and they don't like it now. A subreddit dedicated to OSRS has contested the idea over the past week. Many users are currently claiming that this brings the sport one step closer to having blown microtransactions. Others see this as"microtransactions via a third party," since players that have paid to be spouses with another firm are rewarded with exclusive products.
Thankfully Jagex, the developers of OSRS, have said they will not add any new content without polling the neighborhood into the game. This is accomplished with an in-game voting booth where their ballots can be throw by members. Due to the voting system, the majority of the community is happy with any adjustments made to the nostalgic game.
The survey was set to close on Monday the 8th, however polling results were so negative Jagex decided to shut the booths early. A formal statement from the provider indicates that not only were the polls, however, the general hatred around the subject forced them to leave the idea. They are disappointed that the community thought they would do anything and say that they were in no way attempting to add microtransactions.
They did precisely that with Runescape 3. It supplies a subscription that adds hundreds of hours of additional content, although OSRS is a title that is Free to Play. The fact that any type of monetization was discussed when the title includes a subscription was probably the reason for such a backlash from the community.
Jagex's massively-multiplayer online role-playing game "Old School RuneScape" launches on iOS and Android on Oct. 30, the developer announced on Wednesday. "Old School RuneScape" is another version of the game which launched in 2013 and is maintained alongside the first.
