There's no reason to believe that this occurred. Consistent inconsistency has been the slogan for the Panthers since the time the franchise has existed. An endless rubber banding of soaring highs and crushing lows, with nothing in between. Being able to win that Super Bowl, finally getting over the block, would have made a difference.

General director Dave Gettleman would have stayed with the team during 2017. The Super Bowl would have assured that, which drastically alters the Giants their history. Without Gettleman it's unlikely that the team selects Saquon Barkley, and instead picking Sam Darnold -- which keeps the Jets' QBs in the exact same city but in different hues.

After Gettleman's departure from the team, the Panthers began to look like a team in the midst of running over time. Ron Rivera seat was getting hot, Newton was struggling, not just on the field, but also with cheap madden 23 coins injury.
