  • VETPSA (Veterans' Peer Self Advocacy) group meets every Tuesday, 1:00p.m., 1111 Sixth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 Catty-corner from the "C" Street Trolley stop and 7-11; enter the building and ride the elevator to the 2nd Floor. When you exit the elevator use the door to the left across the hallway. You will be entering the office of 'Disability Rights of California'. Just let them know you are there for the "Veterans' group" and you will be lead to where we are for the day. Remember: you are an honorary member until you attend, and you are then an active member. "A Vet, is a Vet, is a Vet"; and, our family support system and friends are also just a much a part of the Vet and all are welcome. Come be a part of and make a difference.

On the Governer’s Survey ~  Feb 2010 on http://www.calvet.ca.gov, as an invite to my e-mail from the California Department of Veterans Affairs website I responded as such. They also have as a new ‘Action Plan’ for Veterans returning the ability to use the link demonstrated at the bottom of this communication.

Also, stated in first question under ‘Other’ as to what was first, second and third most important I stated that , ‘ all the services they were surveying were equally important, but that if we did not provide good employment WHILE servicing their mental, physical and spiritual needs that as we got them housing they would not be able to maintain keeping that housing because they would either end up losing their jobs. This would be due to their becoming part of the either or both the mental health and judicial systems...I should have added, or dead or homeless.

“Go out into the streets and "get them". Come, join me and help me give them the hope that their needs will be met and make it easier for them to get to the VA. Once a Veteran gets his VA ID we should give them free bus service; yes, in other words, their VA ID should work the same as a Bus Pass; and, should be made adequate for them to receive their Birth Certificates so that when they are mugged or robbed they can get their ID and DD214s EASILY again! That is one of the things that is keeping them on the streets.  ~  Elizabeth Ellison, DRC VET PSA S.D., elijabethel@cox.net, 619 251.3337”

If you are looking for benefits and are not getting the service you believe you should, it looks as though they are offering this forum; and, that you can start here in the first place also:
