Islamists are fanatical, religious bullies. This is not hard to figure out when you know the proper translation of the word Islam is Submission. I always find it comical when fellow-traveling, useful idiots (a sadly ongoing theme) tell me that Islam means Peace. Yeah, no. It is quite heartening and brings such lovely schadenfreude to hear the wannabe tyrants of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt are now learning that the sheep will turn on you. Apparently they didn't vote for oppression by a bunch of barbaric, bearded wankers. Islamist president Mohamed Morsi is out. His opponents, a military-backed interim government of secularists, are in. And if you’ve got a beard — that most conspicuous symbol of Islamism in post-Arab Spring Egypt — you’re likely to get taunted on the metro, harassed in the souk and possibly even assaulted, according to conservative Muslims... “The treatment has changed for the worse,” said Osama Ibrahim, an imam at a Cairo mosque that caters to hard-line Islamists. The nation’s turmoil has seeped into his daily life in the Cairo neighborhood of Ain Shams, he said. “On the metro, they call us names. People come up to us and say, ‘How are you, Sheik Morsi?’” he said. Awwww poor little thing. I bet you can't even walk around the market with a cane and whip unveiled women any more, quelle horreur. He was also whining that people yanked his wife's veil off. Now, I can't support that kind of action but it pales in comparison to what Mr. Osama there and his bully boy buddies have been up to. And I kinda doubt his wife got a vote about whether or not she wants to live out her days in a potato sack. So, Mr.O and his man-jammie wearing boy pals can just hush their cakeholes. When the Arab Spring became all the rage, there were two competing narratives. One was the Arab people are throwing off the shackles of post-colonial dictatorship and embracing freedom and liberty. HA! The other was the Islamists are coming, the Islamists are coming! The second group was obviously right and the iron sandals have been crushing the freedom yearning masses ever since. At that time I said repeatedly that overthrowing tyrants is a good thing, period. And that if/when the theocrats took power, they would show their true ugliness. They did and the people in Egypt are showing them the meaning of that time-honored phrase, "payback is a medevac". Let freedom ring.
