There's a few charities that we support around this place - Semper Fi Fund, Soldiers' Angels, Team Rubicon, Operation Comfort, Defenders of Freedom... And the Green Beret Foundation. Here's a way for you to help raise some much needed funds - a virtual race titled "Run for a Million" where you can choose up to six distances and get sponsors, support a great cause and have some fun. Run For A Million Dates: August 1-11, 2013 Location: Around the World Mission: Get your friends and family to sponsor your race(s) and support the Green Beret Foundation. Have fun. Distance: 6 to choose from (or you can attempt all six!) How it works: You may select ANY route, but it must be at least the distance for which you registered Road Trail Tracy Treadmill (one entrant is running his race on the USS Ronald Reagan while at sea) You can run any time on or between August 1st and August 11th 2013 This includes two weekends – plenty of time to do all 6 distances. You must record your running time and distance. See the page Recording Your Run Time At its most sophisticated, GPS data. At its simplest a distance calculated in something like Google Maps and a start/stop time on your watch Downtime while running your distance (for example to sleep or eat lunch) is included in your running time. Results must be posted to use for confirmation. Examples of valid confirmation data include Official race results (if you run this as part of another race) via photos or screen capture A screenshot of your favorite smartphone run tracking app GPS data from a runners watch or similar. Photos of Google Maps (or similar) route and start/end time pictures of your watch You are allowed to run multiple distances. You cannot count once distance twice or more. For example, you may not run 50mi and also count that as your 26.2mi distance. Please be honest. You may run the full 100+ miles in one stretch if you are signed up for all 6 race distances. Same goes for other multiples of race distances. See the explanation of running all 6 distances A bib number will be sent to you via email. You should print this and wear for the run. Take a photo wearing the bib you might be eligible for a prize also If you sign up for the 6 distances, you will only be mailed a patch for those you complete. Proof of completions required (see above). You can run these distances independently or sequentially. For example, if you run 10.8 miles that is acceptable for the 1.5mi, 5k and 10k. If you can provide split times, great. If not your times will get extrapolated Patches will be mailed out as soon as you have emailed your results and they have been confirmed. T-shirts and prizes will be sent shortly after the event closes. Download Flyer (please post anywhere!) Last, here's a video describing the event.
