If you are Army South and needing to train a unit that will be patrolling, scouting, moving to secure locations or other, and generally making life interesting for the enemy, who do you call? Why, you call the Cav, of course. It's a natural. In this case, to train the Guatemalan Inter-Agency Border Unit (IABU), you call the Texas Army National Guard because not only are they Cav, they've done similar missions in Europe and South America. Below is an interview I did with LTC Anthony P. Flood of the TXARNG about the mission. It is a bit rough, and why is below the fold as it has nothing to do with him or the mission. My apologies for this not being smoother. Long story short: new HD in the computer, rescued all on old but the new HD meant OS and software upgrades. OS upgrades means that none of the previous video editing software works anymore. To upgrade the good software will take around $425, and upgrade to the so-so software was interesting, especially as it is effectively new to me. To make things even more interesting, without the good software, I'm having to hand my files over to someone else to translate into something this system will read and work with. Also, One Lung, my computer, has roughly one quarter the recommended RAM for all the software, which makes editing interesting and rendering something well beyond that with this short movie taking roughly five hours to render. So, my apologies for the roughness but it is good to be doing video work again. It will get better, and hopefully soon get much better as other upgrades take place.
