Mendoza was in an ambush in Afghanistan, responded to the calls for "Medic!" and returned fire to the enemy, and died while treating the wounded paratroopers. The SPC Hugo V. Mendoza Soldier Family Care Center is the largest clinic in the U.S. Army. Go over to FCPK and read about Doc and how his family, friends, and comrades honor him.
