From the archives! I took this Thanksgiving morning last November. James Bradley's Flags of our Fathers, the beautifully written 2006 account of Bradley's father John, a Navy hospital corpsman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Marines, of the 5th Marine Division and the battle for Iwo Jima, the historic flag raising on Mount Suribachi and the lives, fortunes and deaths of the flag raisers, has a great account of the building and dedication of this memorial over in Rosslyn, VA. Good stuff.
