"That others may live!" - USAF Pararescue Motto If you've been hanging around here awhile, you won't be a stranger to Jason Cunningham... At Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, the US Air Force held a three day memorial to honor the life of Jason Cunningham. Cunningham, a pararescueman who died in combat March 4, 2002, saved 10 men's lives by giving medical aid while under fire. The Air Force's Camp Cunningham at Bagram is named in his honor. According to Lieutenant Colonel Spencer Cocanour, 21st Expeditionary Special Tactics Squadron commander, "Jason Cunningham was ready to go that day. When they called his name, his heart beat faster, his adrenalin was pumping...he was in the zone. He went in knowing it was dangerous. He knew the enemy was there, on the attack, and knew there was U.S. wounded and dead on the battlefield. He knew all of this, yet he never faltered...never hesitated. He was all in." Military members register to participate in the Senior Airman Jason Cunningham Remembrance Ruck March at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, March 4, 2012. Brig. Gen. Thomas Deale and Lt. Col. Spencer Cocanour place an honorary wreath against the shadow box commemorating Senior Airman Jason Cunningham at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, March 4, 2012. Cocanour is the commander of the 21st Expeditionary Special Tactics Squadron and Deale is the commander of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing. Participants in the Senior Airman Jason Cunningham Remembrance Ruck March trudge along the perimeter of Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, March 4, 2012. The ruck march was one part of a three-part ceremony held in remembrance of the 10-year anniversary of his heroic sacrifice.
