The Proclaiming of Thanks...

Glad to have the time with my family on this day, even as I have (and many others are doing today) spent a few of these days away from family and home in places that I was definitely not thankful to be in (why can't we invade somewhere tropical anyway?). From the father of our country, and our first commander in chief. Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor - and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness." A Happy Thanksgiving to all of those serving us overseas and away from home and to their families who are doing the same at home. I have been there and it matters to me to say thanks to the guys sitting in the QRF shack, the guys out on patrol and on post, and especially to those that work in the Chow Hall, because the small shred of Thanksgiving that is Turkey, Cranberry Sauce and Pumpkin Pie is only possible because of your hard work. It always goes pretty good with some football on AFN. Thank you for your hard work. If no one else tells you today, thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.
