Frankly, I'm not sure what to make of the reports of possible attacks this weekend (particularly tomorrow). There is a lot of talk in the media, but not nearly enough substance out in public yet for meaningful discussion. The one thing I will note is that in many ways, AQ pretty much has to try something given all that has gone wrong for them since. Just remember, your safety is not the government's responsibility: it is yours. We can not and must not count on the enemy's incompetence (Shoe Bomber, Panty Bomber, NY Car bomber, etc.) to continue to protect us. So, be careful, and be alert. If something doesn't seem right, report it -- and be moving away from it if circumstances allow. If something does happen, get clear. Keep in mind that a double- or triple-layer of t-shirt can make a surprisingly effective improvised filter, and that with radiological or other threats the more you can keep out of you the better off you are. For more information and links on preparedness, see Blackfive's post here. Most of all, remember that with almost all of the events made public that failed, it wasn't the gropers who stopped things, it was Citizens just like you and me. Citizens who were alert, reported, and acted as necessary. Right now, there is a need for vigilance, but no need for panic or hysteria. A few simple preparations that are easy to make, and being alert, will do. Take the time, think, and plan. Then, thumb your nose at the cowards by living and doing as if they don't exist. LW
