Godspeed Sgt Daniel Gurr

Received this from a B5 reader and Marine NCO in Afghanistan. He was concerned by a comment in our post about the SEALs yesterday. It's important: I too was shocked reading the reports regarding the downing of the TF Bird in Wardak, and made comment and prayer to my NSW brothers, whom I hold in the highest esteem. But one comment in this thread I need to address and I cannot from the work computer. So I will email it to you instead hoping that somebody will respond to Tom on my behalf. To Tom and the Gurr family. Daniel was not forgotten by the Marines and sailors of Task Force Leatherneck also known as II MEF. At 2000 (8pm) Friday night local time. Approximately 250 Marines, sailors, soldiers and airman, accompanied by several coalition partners quietly marched to the back of a darkened C-130 which was empty save a large American flag hanging from the interior frame. We formed 7 rows port and starboard side, and quietly assumed a “rest” position. After the formations had settled, we were called to attention, then directed to parade rest. Where Sgt Daniel Gurr, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, Okinawa, Japan was recognized in prayer. The pallbearers, quietly marched Daniel aboard the aircraft, while we slowly raised our hands to salute this hero, turning 45 degrees to follow the procession aboard. We were commanded to order arms, then we faced inboard. Waiting for Daniel to receive final honors from his brothers and sisters here in Afghanistan, then we sent him on his journey home. Protected now in rest by God’s love and covered by the Flag he chose to defend. Sgt Daniel Gurr, RIP and Semper Fidelis.
