End of Year Giving

This week will be one of the busiest of the year for charitable donations. Individuals and companies wanting or needing a break on taxes will be looking to donate to charities both to do some good and to get that tax break. Companies and organizations that do matching donations make it an even better week for charities. To that end, I would like you to consider donating to some worthy causes. Check with your employer to see if they will match. First, I hope you will consider a donation to Cooking with the Troops. We have some news coming out later this week, but one thing I can tell you is that due to a very generous donation, the food for Operation FPH Blues is now fully covered. That said, we are still a long way from our goal of $15,000 and can use your help. Remember that anything not used on the trip will be split between Cooking with the Troops and Pin-Ups for Vets. And, to be very honest, we could use some money just for us to cover some of the remaining start-up expenses and begin gearing up for next year's work. Second, please look at giving to Pin-Ups for Vets. The work being done by Gina is a huge help to our veterans, especially our older veterans. Third, please consider donating to Standing for the Fallen. This is a good effort currently working through the Marine League in Lafayette, IN, and Mark uses the money raised to purchase and ship the items needed at that time by Soldiers' Angels Germany. This is a direct aid to our wounded. Fourth, consider a donation to Project Valour-IT. Yes, we just had the fundraiser a few weeks ago but they can always use the help. In this last week of the year, you can still make a huge difference. Every donation, large or small, helps and this is also a time of year when employers and others may match or otherwise add to what you do. Investigate, check, check out the charities, and do what you can for the things that matter to you. LW
