It’s being entertained that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will pull a fast one and get the DADT repeal voted on again in the early morning on this Saturday The battle to appeal the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is ever lingering in the area. I don’t think we have seen the last of this yet. But allow me to point out a few items that they aren’t advertising with this appeal and or its “success”. The billl HR1283 originated by California’s Ellen Tauscher has submitted for approval (DADT). Currently the House of Representatives pass the motion to overturn the ban on openly gay and *** soldiers serving in the U.S. military. However, for the time being the Senate has blocked the repeal . (Take the poll here) The bill/repeal -- a so-called "stand alone" measure not tied to any other legislative items is pending but it being a “stand alone” bill is very incorrect. If the bill passes and allows homosexuals into the military openly, the military will be a conduit to allow same sex marriages even though they don’t reside in a state that allows same sex marriages. (Interesting that California stopped allowing same sex marriages but is initiating this bill.) California has the third highest unemployment rate to date. Now what is one way to quickly overnight drop the unemployment number in your state? Perhaps get them enrolled into the military so they now are classified as “working”? The military as a whole will also be required to adjust several policies within its services to reflect new accommodations i.e. customs and courtesy’s, uniform standards, what is considered inappropriate behavior for homosexuals in uniform. Same sex members holding hands in uniform, kissing or living together? Bringing an equal impact is this bill means giant spending. Here is how, since 1993 when the current bill was installed, members identified as homosexuals were dismissed from the military. If the DADT repeal happens, the military expects several (already prepared and listed) lawsuits against the Government from members that were kicked of the military in the past for homosexual actions to proclaim back pay for their time in the service, re-entry into the military at their prior rank, and for those retired, VA benefits for those who can claim any type of disability and relate it to their service to include for one example becoming infected with and treating HIV (wow, a state like California would then automatically not have to spend money on that since the US Government would be taking up the bill. So now even though you live in NY, you are paying for California’s lack of budgeting.) We are talking about a lot of money in VA benefits alone. The number of “veterans” will quadruple overnight. Where will all this money come from? You, and your tax money of course. Many religions disapprove of homosexuality. With military recruiting again this year and as always, a challenge this will add another barrier/restriction to our already volunteer service. How many parents are already reluctant for their 17 year old to join the military because they fear for their child deploying? How many parents will now discourage their children to participate in an organization that is supporting homosexuality? Military volunteer service vis religious beliefs…. This will undoubtedly hurt recruitment and retainment in the future. What about transvestites that desire to be in the military? The bill itself states: “the term ‘sexual orientation’ means heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality, whether the orientation is real or perceived”. If you have a male gay service member that desires to wear a female version of the uniform, the military will have to walk a fine line to protest it. Are they addressing those issues at the House of Representative? Is that how our House of Representatives wants the military to project its image? Apparently so since they passed it. “Nothing in this Act, or the amendments made by this Act, shall be construed to require the furnishing of dependent benefits in violation of section 7 of title 1, United States Code (relating to the definitions of ‘marriage’ and ‘spouse’ and referred to as the ‘Defense of Marriage Act’)”. Bottom line, there is no difference in a male and female couple and a male & male couple. Thus you are now supporting same sex marriages regardless if you think you are or aren’t. Despite what your state has for law & same sex marriages, the military will recognize it. “Revision of Department of Defense and military department regulations governing victims’ advocacy programs to include sexual orientation discrimination among the forms of discrimination for which members of the Armed Forces and their families may seek assistance.” More money from you in the form of taxes. Let’s for a second substitute “female” for the word “homosexual”. Currently, there are female only barracks, for a reason. This repeal will most likely require unique accommodations such as “homosexual” only barracks ($$$$) as well, “homosexual” bathrooms? These are just the tip of the iceberg that this bill brings with it and aren’t being advertised to you, the person who will pay the bill for it. Have you seen the survey that the military was asked to answer? Here it is. Only about 10 percent of the 400,000 servicemembers asked to complete a survey about possible repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law have responded as of July. Consider that when figures are thrown out about how the military opinion about the repeal is swaying one way or another. “We heard many service members express the view that ‘open’ homosexuality would lead to widespread and overt displays of effeminacy among men, homosexual promiscuity, harassment and unwelcome advances within units,” the study group said. “They are the few, the proud and perhaps the military’s biggest opponents of lifting the ban on openly gay troops.Most of those serving in America’s armed forces have no strong objections to repealing the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law, according to a Pentagon survey of 400,000 active duty and reservists...
