CIA doctors violated Nuremberg Code?

Good Lord these people are relentless. Based on zero new evidence, simply their own interpretation of memos about the CIA's Enhanced Interrogation Techniques a group of doctors is accusing the CIA doctors who supervised the program of essentially being Nazi human experimenters. Physicians for Human Rights, which proves my rule that groups with rights or truth in their name should not be taken seriously, has released a report making all kinds of ridiculous accusations. WASHINGTON (AP) -- A prominent physicians group is charging that medical personnel were used to test and refine the effectiveness of waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques for terror detainees in U.S. custody under the guise of safeguarding their health. Physicians for Human Rights outlined the allegations stemming from a Bush-era interrogation program and called on the White House to investigate. Its report was based on a re-examination and new interpretation of records that had been previously released..... According to the report, "Medical personnel were required to monitor all waterboarding practices and collect detailed medical information that was used to design, develop and deploy subsequent waterboarding procedures." For example, the report said, doctors recommended adding salt to the water used for waterboarding, so the patient wouldn't experience hyponatremia, "a condition of low sodium levels in the blood caused by free water intoxication." The report interpreted that doctor-recommended practice of using saline solution as "Waterboarding 2.0. Oooh Waterboarding 2.0. Is that supposed to sound extra scary? 'Cuz to me it seems like a new and improved version, now with even more Jedi Mind Screw. Heck W recently said that if he had to do it all again he would definitely soak down old Khalid "Sheik Sheik Sheik" Mohammed. The gist of this pile of crap seems to be that the docs weren't simply monitoring the interrogations to make sure they were conducted safely, they were using the detainees as human torture experiments a la Dr. Mengele int he Nazi death camps. Apparently the fact that the docs kept records of what went on qualifies them as evil/ What escapes these clowns was that the docs and the interrogators were constantly trying to find the least extreme methods to achieve the desired result. There is an interview with the head of this group in Boing Boing. That citation we note of Appendix F in the CIA 2004 Inspector General's report, the one that describes the directives to doctors, says, 'Take these notes in a very meticulous way about how detainees respond to waterboarding so we can better inform our procedures in future.' That's describing the framework of a research protocol. That is a ridiculously low standard, and purposely misinterprets the reason they are doing it. The rest of his answers are equally fatuous. They took a conclusion of torture and human experimentation and they will be damned if the evidence they cite exonerates those they accuse. Bush tortured and someone must pay.
