Reader SGT K sends this article about thieves stealing the identities of our Fallen soldiers: Fallen Soldier's Mother "Shocked" by Alleged Check Fraud Scheme Updated: June 2, 2010 10:00 PM By Matt Smith As three people are charged with stealing the identity of fallen Wisconsin service men and women, family members ask why. "It doesn't make any sense to me and I guess it baffles me that someone would even consider doing such a thing," Mary Bosveld, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq, said. Bobby McLeod and James Larson of Green Bay and Tina Mitchem of Milwaukee all face several felony charges in Oneida County. They're accused of stealing the identities of Rachel Bosveld, Matthew Schram, and Andrew Halverson, who all died in the line of duty in Iraq. A sheriff's deputy arrested the three suspects during a traffic stop in the Town of Lake Tomahawk last week. Authorities say inside the car they found computers, a printer, and blank checks they believe the trio used to print checks in the service members' names. Private First Class Rachel Bosveld was Wisconsin's first woman to die in Iraq, in 2003. She lived in Oshkosh and Waupun growing up. Now, nearly seven years after her death, Rachel's mom says new wounds replace the old. "I'm shocked that somebody would do that."... Mat would probably laugh about this if it didn't hurt the families so much. Read the whole piece here.
