I know I have been AWOL for awhile with some sporadic postings and with much happening in the world.... I am truly sorry for that... I have spent a good portion of the last year since the last election trying to make sense of what is going on with the country that I love. I have done that especially with the military that I have loved (and hated sometimes) for the entirety of my adult life. And now that I am retired and looking at it from the unique perspective of knowing what is going on inside and still having friends who are standing a post, and not being there to stand with them (as most retirees do), I don't know if I can express it any other way.... Now I know what the Carter Years were like.... I was 6 to 10 years old during that time and my Dad was a Naval Reservist. I know he didn't see some of the same "Hollowing out" of our military that the active component did, but I now know why he said some of the things he did. Now I see why, when I joined the military under President Reagan, how different things really can be when the men and women (like some of us here) who are standing guard over the free world have a commander in chief that they feel has their best interests first and foremost in his mind and heart. I initially had too much anger to allow me to speak clearly on this issue, and I don't know if I have fully processed it all, but I am not going to let the current commander in chief do what he is doing to our military without speaking out. I enlisted under Reagan, served under Bush 41, endured Clinton, fought terrorists under Bush 43, and retired under Obama. Having seen the changes and the cycles, I can tell you honestly, I just can't abide a CINC that disrespects the national security apparatus the way this current one does. I demand a great deal from my leaders, and this CINC is many things, but he is not a leader.... Come up on the wind.... Fire as you bear....
