Milwaukee Firefighters Craig Parello and Jeff Lang of Team Rubicon assess the damage of the Jesuit Novitiate main building. At 150 pounds per one square foot of concrete, Parello and Craig estimate this broken concrete water box (directly above the kitchen) weighs a minimum of 150,000 pounds, thereby compromising the structural integrity of the entire building. "In the US, no one would be allowed within 60 feet of this building until a structural engineer or heavy urban rescue team (HURT) shored up and thoroughly assessed with the proper equipment. Due to the lack of supplies and personnel with proper training, this structure will likely remain unfixed until it eventually crashes through the roof.", said Lang. Despite their warnings to clear the building, the mission cooks and personnel continue to use the kitchen and offices to supply relief workers with one hot meal per day.
