I haven't posted a lot of late, in part because of behind the scenes work for Cooking with the Wounded. One of the efforts underway has been reaching out to corporations, chefs, and celebrities asking for support (and participation). Of the current generation of entertainers, I have to date received one reply. Ted Nugent was kind enough to send me a Christmas card, but I'm still trying to figure out what it means in terms of Cooking with the Wounded and Valour-IT... Last week, I reached out to some favorites of mine. A previous generation of entertainers if you will. The ones I still remember watching on television as they performed in Vietnam with Bob Hope, and enjoyed in their own shows and venues here in the states. Being an early bloomer, it was far easier for me to watch the dancers and entertainers like Ann-Margret on TV from Vietnam than otherwise... That said, there were some staples to those shows for the troops, and I've reached out to those I could. Semi-reluctantly, I decided to walk in the snow and cold to my local post office this morning. When I entered, I could see a large manilla envelope that barely fit in box. I opened up the box, and then the envelope, to find: Phyllis Diller responded the same day she got my letter. This wonderful and generous lady still supports the troops, and has donated signed photos to help raise funds for Cooking with the Wounded and Project Valour-IT. Stay tuned. Tuesday, I'm going to tell you how you can get one of these wonderful photos (and the card from Ted). LW off to deal with the dust in his eye... NOTE: Anyone who wants to send this wonderful lady a thank you note for past and/or present support of the troops, drop me a line at the e-mail over on the right (Laughing Wolf, not Mr. Wolf or Blackfive, we really aren't sock puppets *G*), tell me who you are, and I will give you an address.
