What a silly Kabuki dance this has been. McChrystal formulated his request, oh maybe a month ago and does anyone really believe that President Obama hasn't known what it is since then? The whole event has been orchestrated to allow maximum wiggle room in the attempt to find a way to do as little as possible. It has been known for a while that 40 k was the top number and that there were three levels with high medium and low levels of potential for failure, anyone wanna go 25k and 10k for the other levels. It looks like we will end up with a half step of some sort, I would guess 25k and while that is better than nothing it is a political consideration not a strategic one.
