Received this email from Bill F. in Florida: Just a quick note that seems to be playing out all across the US. When flying into Tampa last week there were 10-12 Army and Air Force members on the plane, going home after a tour in Afghanistan. As we landed the flight attendant came over the 1MC and asked all of us to stay in our seats until the servicemen were off-they hadn't seen their families in a year. The entire plane erupted in cheering for them. I cheered and watched as 20-somethings walked down the aisle completely taken by the cheering. It was important for me to see and participate in this for the first time. I am a Marine, serving during the early 70's, the dark days for military service. I still clearly remember there being an advisory sent out during this time telling us not to wear our uniforms while traveling because of some confrontations by anti-war protestors at that time. I was in my 20's, a second lieutenant, and proud as hell of being a Marine. It sickened me. I feel vindicated now. If there had been anyone confronting those servicemen that day they would have had to first get through a whole plane-full of just ordinary Americans. Semper Fi, Bill That's great!
