Two things to let you all hear about. First on Sept. 11th a group of soldiers is holding an event here in DC that is pretty cool. They are holding a 24 hour walk starting at midnight of the 10th through midnight of the 11th. They will be continuously marching at the Mall. They did this last year as well and you can learn more about this at their website. Next there is a fundraiser to help SFC Mark Allen and his family recover from the wounds he suffered recently. Mark is a battle buddy of Mike Stokely's and they could sure use your help.a a On July 8, 2009 SGT First Class Mark Allen, a member of the Newnan Armory based Bravo 2 / 121 Infantry of the 48th Brigade Combat Team Georgia Army National Guard, was seriously wounded in Afghanistan and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He was being treated at Bethesda Naval Medical Center outside Washington DC and was recently transported to a Medical Center in Tampa, Florida for further treatment. Sgt. Allen has a long road to recovery. A benefit day will be held at the Hapeville Chick-fil-A® Dwarf House location to help raise funds to support the Allen family during this difficult time. A portion of the restaurant sales from 10:00am – 8:00pm will be donated to the Sgt. First Class Mark Allen Fund.
