From the good people at Spirit of America, they are particularly interested in anyone downrange needing support for their missions. See message below. WINNING HEARTS AND MINDS Spirit of America Can Help If you are trying to win hearts and minds, Spirit of America can help. Spirit of America is a charity that fulfills requests from members of the U.S. military for goods that will help local people in Afghanistan, Africa and Iraq. Troops say that Spirit of America's support improves relations, helps keeps them safer and "literally saves lives." These are some of the goods we provided when American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines asked for our help: * Medical supplies * Sewing machines * Farming tools * Seeds and agricultural supplies * Irrigation equipment * Toys & sporting goods * Clothing, sandals & blankets * Polaroid cameras and film (Marines gave snapshots as gifts) * Construction tools * School supplies * Water purification gear * Science lab equipment * Solar lanterns * Bulletproof vests, ballistic sunglasses(given by Marines to Afghan National Army) HOW IT WORKS ========== 1. You email us at requests@spiritofamerica.net with a description of the goods you need to help local people. 2. Spirit of America, with donor support, secures the goods and ships them to you with no red tape. 3. You distribute the materials and send us photos that we can share with your American supporters. WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT SPIRIT OF AMERICA =========================== General James Mattis, U.S. Marine Corps "The initiative and focused support provided by Spirit of America is beyond anything we have experienced. You have significantly impacted our ability to do good and, I fervently hope, reduce the potential for combat. You've given to the Marines an example of patriotism that none of us will forget." Sgt. Major Mack McDowell, U.S. Army "The Taliban's biggest ally is that the local people are destitute, and hungry for any good deed. Thank you so much for enabling us. We are truly thankful for the ability to make a positive influence on those who need it the most. Words can't express how much your efforts mean to us." Senator John McCain "Since 9/11 we've been in a fight to defend the ideals that make America a great nation. Spirit of America works for this cause every day, it is America at its very best. Join us and make freedom win."
