Screw 'em. The entire sorry lot of them.

Argghhh!
army.mil-32347-2009-03-12-060310.jpgBearing in mind that I was not a fan of invading Iraq, and thought we should have left Afghanistan after we broke the Taliban, I have had many friends fight in these wars and some now sleep in a garden of stone.

Which makes this sad.

"Remember, "Bin Laden is dead and Detroit is alive"? Detroit is bankrupt and al-Qaeda now controls more territory than ever."

I know the politics of this is hard, and things are more easily understood in hindsight than when it's happening in dribs and drabs around you. But why is it so f*cking easy for the politicians to get the troops killed for things they clearly don't believe, just so they can advance their other agendas? Or undermine the troops for the *exact.same.reason.*?

I do not like optional wars. I like less people who profess to oppose them, yet really do so only for partisan political advantage, switching sides as convenient. Venal. Venal. Venal.

And I do not believe our leaders are worthy of the lives they expend. Lives offered willingly, and in good faith. And squalidly squandered for political calculation and craven cowardice to do what's right. Because, why, you might pay a price.

And that kid in the body bag, well, hey, he's not going to vote any more, anyway.

And based on what they just did to retirement (except the 3 and 4-stars, natch, the ultimate insiders are protected) they are returning the favor to those of us who made the offer and survived to collect on promises built on a flocculant-infused foundation.

And Gates? You sorry ***, I understand why you didn't speak out while in office. Totally get that. What I don't get is why you stayed in office, given what you appear to have experienced. But I do - you, too, are a part of the "Inside the Beltway" crowd, and live in that cloud-cuckoo-land.

Screw you all. I've had my Smedley Butler moment.
