Like breathless links from Drudge to Chicken Little blurbs on Breitbart...
Pentagon May Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith
Actually, they say that they'll prosecute people who break the law. Not that there isn't room for mischief there, with the greivance kulturkampf in full swing - but then I've worked for bosses who displayed their own brand of ski-pilotry harder than appropriate while standing in their official capacity. Me, I just winced and let it slide, because it was truly just a part of who they were, and I never felt they were pushing it on me or anyone, just testifying. And I as a commander was the kind who asked a soldier about to re-enlist if they preferred to swear or affirm - and what the difference was. I did have a soldier relieved to have me ask - because he wanted to "affirm" for religiious reasons, but always felt uncomfortable asking. Commanders should be sensitve to that sort of thing - but in my experience, most of us didn't really know about, nor understand, the difference.
But it's not a courtsmartial offense unless you get stupid about it.
As I said, I used to write on Breitbart's Big Peace, but I don't anymore, and haven't for a whlie - and articles like that are one of the reasons.
Color me with Mothax over at the Legion's Burnpit (another place I used to write):
No, the DoD will not court martial Christians (or Zoroastrians, Sikhs, Buddhists or Spaghetti Monster adherents.)
But then, I'm a well-known squish.
