The lances...

Argghhh!
So, here's pics of markings on two of the lances I got on Friday. Lance heads clearly marked with the Brit double-broad-arrow surplus stamp, and one with "Enfield."  Butt sockets are marked with 12th Royal Lancers correct ash shafts for post 1880s. The only kicker is... all the officially adopted lance heads I can find reference to are... triangular - not like these. A mystery, and part of the fun.  And causing me to order a copy of Skennerton's tome on the topic.

This is what I believe to be the older lance, along the lines of the Pattern 1860 or 1868. It has the double Broad Arrrow mark, indicating the lance head was released for service for disposal. The anomaly is that, as far as I have been able to research so far - Brit lances were triangular in shape, vice the diamond pattern seen here. I've not gotten to Indian-pattern lance heads. If these are indian-pattern, that would seem to indicate that somewhere back along their history, someone built these lances (a long time ago) from parts.
