Is Retirement Option for General in Sodomy Case?
Under military law, Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair may be able to ask the secretary of the Army for permission to retire rather than face possible court-martial for forcible sodomy.
Fort Bragg officials declined to discuss whether retirement is a possibility for Sinclair or if he has made such a request.
I don't really think they're going to let Sinclair do a "retirement in lieu" but good golly if they do they're simply going to reinforce the "rules for thee, but not for me" opinion many of us in the service have regarding the seeming inability of the General Officer corps to police itself, much less tartly arch their eyebrows at the troops and lecture us about the evils of sexual harassment and how we have "zero tolerance" for same.
