Tomorrow - mebbe the school board. That's about it, though.
One thing hanging around politicians has shown me - nope. No thanks. Not going to do it. Do.not.have.the.patience. Or desire. Or the need to subject myself to the loons.
But I still wanted to participate in that uniquely American of things - the plethora of stuff we'll have elections about.
SWWBO has several of these now. Two as Committeewoman, and one as a School Board member. I had to work to overcome my reluctance (long ingrained by the sense that Regulars don't do politics). I'm such a starry-eyed idealist.
I got two more votes than she did. We're pretty sure we know why she didn't get those two votes. She doesn't toe the line on the school board. She's a maverick. Who thinks the money the district has belongs to the people who had it taken from them. Vice the buncha folks sitting in the meeting room at the district offices. There's some real consternation that she doesn't see footbal as being more important than, say, Future Business Leaders of America. Leave aside the school system has produced some business leaders, but not any Division One ball players...
