Um, Pardon me, Mr. President - didn't you just recently aver that the soldiers in Afghanistan are "fighting for me." As in you, personally, because, like, well, you're the Commander in Chief and all.
My simple caveman brain then reasons thusly - If they're fighting for you, they're dying for you, too. At your behest, by your order.
I know, you have a tough job. You need the rest.
So you're sending the Second Team to cover for you at Arlington, so that you can properly enjoy memorial day with brats, beer, and maybe some hoops. Take a nap, yanno, enjoy the day off.
Like the troops at Arlington who are taking dirt naps. "For you," if I recall correctly.
You don't quite get the point, that of being the symbolic figurehead, do you?
