In a very real sense, "Castle Argghhh!" exists because of 9/11. Started after the invasion of Iraq it actually waxed pretty large in blogosphere, though it has waned as the 'sphere has changed and matured and we haven't... But the war begat the blog, which became the cyber-Castle, which later became a meat-space location... and that begat version one of the Castle flag, seen flying next to the Star-Spangled Banner in the pic below. Version two, when I've run through the ones already procured, will have some color this one lacks.

I chose to fly the Star-Spangled Banner on purpose, as a tocsin to the hand-wringing of buffoons like Krugman, or the shrunken political performance of yesterday's events at Ground Zero - where the politicians ruled, and the heroes were told their presence was not required.
The Star-Spangled Banner, all fifteen stripes and stars of her - replica of the flag that flew over Fort McHenry, as the bombs burst and the rockets glared redly.
That's *my* kind of memorial. With a touch of defiance, and not a hint of deference.
Karl Teepe deserves no less.
I know it's a day late. But since people like me weren't invited to the big show, well, at Castle Argghhh! we saluted absent companions on our own, sans the hand-wringing, and in a positive way, celebrating the spirit of day, not the sensitivities of the chattering classes.
