There are two Medals awarded for actions on this day, one during World War II, the other, Vietnam. Not all posthumous awards are because the recipient died during the action that earned him the Medal. Some are because the recipient was killed in combat subsequent to the award. Some are because the award was so long in coming, that the indvidual died before the award was approved. Sometimes that's paperwork. Sometimes, it's an injustice.
