This is one of my favorite videos of a relatively typical outpost fight in Afghanistan. Paratroopers from Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, defend their outpost in Chowkay valley, Afghanistan. One of the first things I always note - movie combat always sounds more dramatic than this. I've seen several report s about the BS that occured in St Charles, MO, at the Republican Party Caucus yesterday. One wonders what the national leadership will do (probably nothing). It is pretty dis-spiriting, seeing this kind of behavior. Heh. We're such rubes here in Leavenworth. We just held a caucus, let people yammer, handed out ballots. and ate home-made stuff, and called it a day. Clearly, we don't know what we're doing, and are very naive about how to run a caucus. /sarc

Well, first, counter the meme, reduce the sensationalism intended to sell papers/grab eyeballs, and put out some real info and try to point out where the meme if fueld by cooked data. Of course, the problem is - that's not much fun to read. So much better to just skim the headline, shake your head sadly, and let the meme soak in. Srsly. No, srsly! My sister tried to keep a gun-free toy gun-free home with her kids. She surrendered when her eldest bit off the corner of a piece of bread, grasped it like a gun, and said, "Bang! Bang!"
