Which means there's very little possibility of a camel spider popping out of her birthday cake and pole-dancing on the dining room table...No matter -- commence gifting!And I already beat everybody to this one......

I walked through kitchen, stopping for some water, fresh from having replaced the flagpole we lost in the 60mph winds of last week's thunderboomer. Then I turned the corner and went into the living room to find everybody just exhausted from the overwrought-in-the-event hurricane coverage... First, there was Molly, taking a nap in what used to be my chair, then a surprisingly alert Meriwether sitting next to a slumbering Buffy the Coyote Slayer. New flagpole and flags...

As mentioned in the post below this one, we lost one of our flagpoles in a storm last week - I was flying a cotton US flag and didn't get it down in time (i.e., before the lightning started lighting the place up) and a wet cotton flag on a 20-foot pole in a 60mph wind... well, the wind won that fight. The nylon Castle flag did just fine. I took the opportunity to get a new, stouter pole and some new bunting, too. Currently aloft with the Castle flag is the Civil War-through-Indian War era swallow...

I have a book I received as a conference goody-bag filler (your tax dollars did not fund my attendance nor the conference, though I have no doubt the venue where it was held was tax-supported as it was city-owned) and it is a good book for having in the room wherein the porcelain convenience is ensconced...
