When the weather is like this, especially when driving the back roads during morning or evening nautical twilight, I have REFORGER flashbacks... except, of course, there are no panzers in the trees, more's the pity. The Auld Soldier once got a tip for opening a door. At the Tri-Service Banquet, a formal event held at the Columbia Hilton, the Auld Soldier was in Mess Dress (the wonderful old style, with lots of soutache braid for rank *and* branch insignia on it) and he politely held a door for a couple who had debouched from a limo.
