June 2010 - Argghhh!

Today being the 66th anniversary of D-Day, it seems appropriate to highlight these two recent acquisitions to the Arsenal. Both are from the stocks of the Civilian Marksmanship Program. One is old enough to be a veteran of today's battle 66 years ago, but I would suspect that's unlikely.

One of our long-time readers, JimB of Scoresby fame, is involved in supporting the candidacy of Danny Gilyeat for Congress , and is up to his armpits in the founding of a Veteran's grass roots organization dedicated to using the ballot box to remove politicians (of either party) they believe to be faithless to their oaths. This is their first shot across the bows.

Not.My history with the Army stretches back almost as long as Bill's - back to the late '50s when I was decanted at the 10th General Field Hospital in Wurzburg.I grew up in an Army that had a really good club system, some really outstanding morale, welfare, and recreation facilities (and some real crap ones, too). In a time when the Army was still relatively insular, in ways that it no longer is. While that is probably a larger good, I do think we suffered a net cultural setback when we killed...
